Ways of paying on board vary between the different types of vehicle and parts of the region. You can read more about this here and see the fare for your trip.

Bank card or cash?

On buses you have to pay the driver with a bankcard; cash is not accepted. (Apart from urban buses in Göteborg, Mölndal and Partille. Instead, here you can buy single tickets by sms or in advance at one of Västtrafik's points of sale or using Travel planner.)

On our trains, you can buy a single ticket from the conductor using a bank card or cash.

On trams, there are dispensers that accept both bank card and coin payment. (On low-floor trams, the dispenser is inside the doors with orange marking. On all other trams, it is in the front section.) Tickets are not available from the driver.

On ferries, pay the personnel on board in cash. In the southern archipelago, bank cards can also be used. There are no cash sales on Älvtrafiken, but you can pay the personnel on board by bank card. On board Älvsnabben 3, 4 and 5 and Skarven, you can pay with coins or bank card using the dispenser.
