The Västtrafik organisation

Västtrafik is responsible for all public transport services in the Västra Götaland county, from Strömstad in the north-west to Tranemo in the south-east, Styrsö in the south-west to Gullspång in the north-east.
As the second-largest public transport company in Sweden, Västtrafik can efficiently plan and co-ordinate all the services in the region, to ensure that the whole region benefits from the largest amount of transport available for the money. At the same time, the region is covered by a common network which makes it easy to travel to any part of Västra Götaland. There are, in other words, major benefits in being large.

However, sensible transport can only be achieved through local knowledge, awareness of how the services actually work on the ground - quite simply, personal contact with both transport and passengers. To avoid our size affecting local feedback, Västtrafik has adopted an organisation consisting of one head office and four local offices.

The head office is responsible for overall regional services, as well as for on-demand services (on-demand services, taxi services for the disabled, transport to/from hospitals). Our local offices - Fyrbodal, the Göteborg area, Sjuhärad and Skaraborg - are responsible for services within their own geographical areas.

Västtrafik has offices in Skövde (head office, the Department for On-demand Services and local office), Vänersborg, Borås and Göteborg.
