There are circumstances in which parts of the travel guarantee do not apply. These includes situations over which Västtrafik has no control, which are called "force majeure". Under the following circumstances, you cannot expect to be reimbursed for taxi journeys or travel by private vehicle, even if you arrive at your destination at least 20 minutes late:
- when traffic comes to a standstill due to extreme weather conditions, including extreme slipperiness or when snow has fallen in such quantities that the snow clearing services cannot keep the roads clear. If radio and television are reporting traffic problems due to snow or fallen trees, Västtrafik will also face these problems and the travel guarantee does not apply.
- in the event of major police cordons.
- in the event of major power-cuts.
- in the event of industrial disputes, e.g. strikes or lockouts.
The Västtrafik website will, after the event, specify whether or not force majeure applied. If you are unsure, please contact customer services by telephone on 0771-41 43 00.
The travel guarantee does not apply in the event of planned changes or disruptions to traffic on which we have provided information in good time.
The travel guarantee does not apply in cases where it has been impossible to accommodate large groups, such as school parties, on one and the same departure. Even though notification of large groups should always be provided in advance, there is no guarantee that all members of the group can be accommodated.
