Why did you want to become a train conductor?
“Because it’s such a social job. You meet lots of people from different nationalities and you get to speak different languages.”
What do you do as a train conductor?
“My main duties are to serve and help the passengers, check and sell tickets and provide information, about service disruptions for example. I also look after safety on board and I am trained in conflict management, CPR and taking care of passengers in the event of evacuation, as well as things such as fire safety and electrical safety.”
What is the best thing about being a train conductor?
“I really enjoy my job and I like serving and helping people. I always do my best to help everyone have a pleasant journey. Over the years, I have got to know many of the regular commuters and I usually stop and chat a little with them and wish them a nice day.”
