There is no tram stop in Gothenburg

Yesterday's announcement from the trade union Kommunal about putting a stop on the tram traffic in Gothenburg is canceled. This means that traffic is rolling as usual.

Measures to increase the safety of tram traffic

As of Wednesday morning, May 20, new measures will be introduced on the trams to address the concerns of our drivers.

It is no longer possible to step on through the door at the front of the trams. The seats closest to the driver will also be turned off.

We are introducing measures to make drivers feel safe while doing their job. It is important that we maintain a functioning public transport system.

Tram traffic rolls as usual

Today's message from the trade union Municipality to put a stop on the tram traffic in Gothenburg has been postponed until tomorrow at 15.00. This means that traffic is rolling as usual. Göteborgs Spårvägar and the Municipality continue to work on joint measures to ensure that the drivers feel safe.

Buses are deployed to reduce congestion on board

It is crowded on certain trips in rush hour traffic, especially on tram line 11 between Kortedala and  Centralstationen. From Monday, May 11, we therefore set up a temporary bus line between Kortedala and Centralstationen.

The buses will run between Aprilgatan - Allhelgonagatan - Kortedala Torg - Central Station / Åkereplanen in the morning between 06:30 -09:40 and in the opposite direction in the afternoon between 14: 30-17: 40. The bus runs every 12 minutes. The bus journey is estimated to be a few minutes faster than the tram.

Västtrafik redeems season tickets

Västtrafik passengers can now temporarily redeems their season tickets. The offer means that Västtrafik will refund the remaining value of the ticket in the form of a promotional code or voucher. The aim is to make it easier for passengers who are no longer able or willing to use their season ticket because of the corona virus situation.

Västtrafik has taken a number of measures in response to the corona virus situation. The most recent measure is that if you have a season ticket that is valid for 30, 90 or 365 days, you can redeem it for a voucher or promotional code.

To think about in congestion

We drive as much traffic as we can but despite reduced travel overall, congestion can quickly arise on some tours. During the past week, some trips have sometimes been crowded with tram lines 6, 7 and 11 as well as on bus lines 16, 17, 25 and Rosa express.

We therefore want to remind all travelers to take their own responsibility and show some extra consideration for each other. Consider whether you can forgo a trip, for example by working from home or walking or cycling. If you are traveling, keep a distance from your fellow travelers and preferably travel outside the rush hour if you have the opportunity. If you see that it is full, you should take the next turn, if you can. We continue to keep public transport going for those who need to travel.

New measures in demand-responsive traffic

Due to the spread of the corona virus and the recommendations issued by the Swedish Public Health Agency to prevent the spread of infection, Västtrafik is implementing individual travel, in demand-responsive regular services, commuter traffic and flex traffic as well. Individual travel has already been introduced in the field of travel services and healthcare travel, where travellers often belong to the risk group. This means that each traveller orders their trip as usual but travels alone in the vehicle. This decision will continue to not affect day and care travel, nor school taxis or Ronden. Travellers to day and care activities and travellers who are travelling to schools should only travel when they are symptom-free.

FAQ

We are monitoring developments closely and act on the basis of the information and guidelines that come from the Public Health Agency of Sweden and other responsible authorities.

We are currently looking into the issue. So far we do not have a ready-made solution, but are investigating whether and how we can compensate customers who have bought period tickets, but for various reasons are unable use them. It is important to remember that we do not own the issue ourselves, since it concerns the entire region's budget, which also includes healthcare. Until further notice, our regular terms and conditions of purchase apply.

We urge our travellers not to travel with us if you are sick. If you are in a risk group, that is, if you have an underlying disease or are over 70 years old, you should also avoid public transport.

We encourage you to consider whether you can refrain from a trip, for example by working from home. We are also encouraging people to bike and walk if possible.

As long as public transport is in service, we need to conduct ticket inspection. To make you feel safe, ticket inspectors will work in a new way. They move in smaller groups and only perform inspections outside our vehicles. It is enough that you show the ticket at an arm's length or hold up the card against the card reader, so that the inspector sees it. The ticket inspectors never touch your ticket.

Some inspectors will for a period of time work with providing information instead. Their role is to help travellers find their way in traffic, limit the number of persons per vehicle and keep an eye on whether congestion occurs anywhere, in order to call for reinforcement traffic. We work continuously to adapt ticket inspection procedures and working methods in order for us to adapt to new conditions, advice and recommendations.

In order to take care of yourself and all other travellers who need to travel with our service vehicles, please follow the recommendations of the Public Health Agency of Sweden. It is about following the advice that Vårdguiden 1177 provides to those who need healthcare travel taxi. It is also a matter of thinking carefully about whether you should use transportation services when you have an infection, or belong to one of the risk groups.

We are doing our best to work with our transport companies to create as safe a travel as possible during the current situation. If you have any questions about the particular public transport, we refer you to Demand-Responsive Transport’s Customer Service: 020-919090 (tone dialing 4) or synpunkt.anrop@vasttrafik.se

Västtrafik has introduced so-called individual travel for healthcare travel and travel services. This means that each traveller orders their trip as usual but travels alone in the vehicle. This decision will continue to not affect day and care travel, nor school taxis or Ronden. Travellers to day and care activities and travellers who are travelling to schools should only travel when they are symptom-free.

At the moment it is not possible to book a healthcare trip or a travel service in the front seat. Closing the front seat is not something that the Public Health Agency of Sweden recommends at present, this measure has been taken to reduce the anxiety that many drivers feel so they feel safe and can continue to do their important work. Travelers who have been given permission to travel in the front seat will be offered to travel in the back seat. If the traveller declines, the trip cannot be booked under the current situation. Trips for students who normally travel in the front seat will be rescheduled for the time being so that the student is instead placed in the back seat. We are working as quickly as we can to reschedule the trips. This applies until further notice.

We are doing our best to work with our transport companies to create as safe a travel as possible during the current situation.

Västtrafik has introduced so-called individual travel in Commuter Traffic, Flex Traffic and demand-responsive routes, in which passenger vehicles are used. This is to reduce the spread of the virus. We have already switched off the possibility of travelling in the front seat of the vehicle.

This means that each traveller orders their trip as usual but travels alone in the vehicle. Individual travel still means that I can book for several people at the same time. A travelling party of three people will be placed in the rear seat of a vehicle. If there are four people in the travelling party, an additional passenger car will be booked or another type of vehicle.

Our vehicles, travel centres, stations and stops are cleaned as usual, which means that they are cleaned every day.

As a traveller, you may need to get on buses and trams through the doors in the middle or at the back. We have given our transport companies the opportunity to take such measures in order to reduce the anxiety that many drivers feel, so that they feel safe and can continue to do their important work.

Closing the front door is not something that the Public Health Agency of Sweden recommends at present, but we take drivers' concerns seriously.
