Our 3 most important recommendations

  1. Avoid unnecessary travel with public transport. Consider whether you can  work from home, walking or cycling.
  2. Do not travel if you are ill or have a cold.
  3. If you have to travel: travel outside rush hour, take next departure if it starts to get full on board, wear a face covering if you are 16 years old or older.

Q&A

The Public Health Agency of Sweden and regional authorities recommends that you wear a face covering in public transport. This applies to those who are 16 years old or older, i.e. if you were born in 2004 or earlier.

You are responsible for wearing a face covering.

We follow developments closely and act on the basis of the information and guidelines that come from the Public Health Agency od Sweden and other authorities.

We keep the traffic running for those who have to travel by public transport. The ban on public gatherings of more than 8 people does not apply on public transport. We are making measures to ensure that journeys are as safe as possible.

Measures to reduce the spread of infection:

  • More traffic in rush hour to reduce on-board congestion.
  • Information on vehicles, shops and travel centres.
  • We've put protective glass in our stores' checkouts.
  • Announcements on vehicles that inform to avoid unnecessary travel.
  • On buses and trams, the front doors are closed and the area closest to the driver is closed.
  • Ticket inspectors has a face shield but can also have both face shield and visors during ticket control.
  • Ticket inspectors and customer hosts offer hand liquor to travelers.
  • You can not buy a ticket from the driver.
  • Informants at stops help customers keep their distance and inform about the next departure to spread travel on more vehicles.

Our staff as drivers, ticket inspectors or customer hosts cannot physically prevent customers from boarding. But they'll tell you when it's crowded on board.

On boats, the staff counts all customers and can also refuse more people to board if the boat is crowded.

You may need to get on buses and trams through the doors in the middle or at the back. We have given our traffic companies the opportunity to take such measures to reduce the anxiety that many drivers feel so they feel safe and can continue to do their important work.

Our vehicles, travel centres, stations and stops are cleaned as usual, which means that they are cleaned every day.

Do not travel with us if you are sick. If you are at risk, you should also avoid public transport.

We encourage you to consider working from home. We also encourage you to cycle and walk if possible.

Due to the corona virus and the risk of infection, Västtrafik does not accept any bookings for group trips at this time. The measure is implemented to reduce the risk of infection in society and follows the Public Health Agency's recommendations that public transport should limit the number of passengers on our vehicles.
