New zone structure in Västra Götaland

From 4 November, it will be easier to travel on public transport in Västra Götaland, as the 70 public transport zones are merged into three. This will make choosing the right ticket easier and fewer passengers will need to cross a zone boundary and check in and out.

The new zones are called A, B and C.

From this date, you need to buy a ticket valid outside zone C to continue travelling with this line.

This means that some of these stops only belong to one zone from 4 November.

If you travel from a stop that is close to a zone boundary, this could mean that you need to supplement your senior ticket with a ticket that covers a larger area.
You can check by searching for your stop.

The school cards will be valid in the new zone that is larger than the previous municipality zone. No cards need to be replaced.

Frequently Asked Questions

In order for us to be able to increase sustainable travel in Västra Götaland. The old borders have become an invisible and unnecessary obstacle in people's everyday lives. It should be easy to choose public transport. As of November 4, 2020, there will be fewer tickets, fewer check-ins and check-outs, more uniform prices and larger zones to travel in.

It's a simple and cost-effective way to make this big change. With three zones that comply with the municipal boundaries, no new borders are created, and then you do not need to learn any new ones.

Anyone travelling with an pay-as-you-go will check in and check out when travelling over a zone limit, just like today. But with fewer zone limits, there will be fewer customers who need to.

In the new simpler ticket range, all prices shall be based on the new zones. The range of tickets and prices should also be uniform throughout the region, which has not been the case until now. This means that some special tickets disappear, but it also makes the offer more equal. As equal as possible for everyone, throughout the region.

It will now be more uniform prices, it should cost the same no matter which zone you are traveling in. An important principle in developing the new fares has been to start from the current price level, especially in the case of tickets that you travel on often and regularly, period tickets. This has been important even if it means a higher price for some. For many travellers, the price difference will be marginal. The price will be lower for many.

No, prices will not be raised again in January 2021.
