Conditions
The municipalities in Västra Götaland and Kungsbacka offer their registered elderly residents free public transport journeys with a senior ticket from Västtrafik. It is the municipality that, according to an agreement with Västtrafik, pays for the senior tickets and decides from what age (65, 70 or 75 years) and what times the ticket is valid (24/7 or off-peak hours). Due to capacity problems, some municipalities can only choose low-traffic validity.
If you order the senior ticket on a Västtrafik card, it will be sent to your registered address. If you want the card to another address, you are responsible for ordering forwarding of your mail. The option to choose a digital senior ticket will be launched in stages, starting in autumn 2025. More information about which municipalities are currently eligible for digital ticketing can be found on vasttrafik.se/digitalseniorbiljett.
Since the senior ticket is personal, it must be registered to you in Västtrafik's customer register. Registration takes place automatically when the ticket is ordered. If you deregister the senior ticket yourself or register it for someone else, it will be terminated. The ticket also ends if you are registered in a new municipality. If the agreement between the municipality and Västtrafik should be terminated in the future, Västtrafik will send you information before the senior ticket is terminated.
The senior ticket may not be lent out. The bundled offer does not apply. At a ticket inspection, you must be able to identify yourself. If you have your senior ticket on a card, you need to have a certificate of validity with you when you travel with vehicles that do not have Västtrafik's card reader. For a senior ticket in the Västtrafik To Go app, no proof of validity is required. The senior ticket must always be shown to the reader on board. You are responsible for taking part of the information about the validity of the senior ticket and for ensuring that the ticket is valid for the journeys that are made.
