The senior ticket is valid for travel on the following trains, within the zone your ticket is valid for:

  • Västtåg
  • Vy train
  • Öresundståg

The senior ticket is not valid on trains other than those mentioned above (for example, it is not valid on SJ trains).

If you have the senior ticket on a card and are travelling on trains that do not have Västtrafik's card reader (Vy trains and Öresund trains), you need to bring a certificate of validity that shows that your senior ticket is valid. You can get this at Västtrafik's sales points and on board most of Västtrafik's vehicles.

If you have the senior ticket in the Västtrafik To Go app, you do not need a valid certificate.

If you want to travel outside the zone boundary, you can buy a ticket in the Västtrafik To Go app. You only need to buy a ticket for the part of the journey where your senior ticket is not valid.

For example: If you have a ticket that is valid in zone C but are going to travel further in zone B, you can buy a ticket for zone B under "Buy ticket" in the app.

Information about ticket purchases in the app

If you have the senior ticket on a card, you can also load money (pay-as-you-go) on the senior card at one of Västtrafik's sales points. With pay-as-you-go pay-as-you-go, you can make an additional trip and pay for the part of the journey that goes outside the zone in which your senior ticket is valid.

Charge-through information

Only the senior ticket will be moved to the app, any pay-as-you-go and other tickets will remain on the card and you can continue to travel with them.

No, the accompanying offer (travel 4 for 1) does not apply to travel with a senior ticket.

If you have your senior ticket in Västtrafik To Go, all you need to do is log in to the app on your new phone. The ticket comes with you to the new phone and disappears from your old one.

If you have the senior ticket on a card: Log in to My Account to block the senior card and order a new one. It costs nothing to get a new card.
