Government support for public transport
It has now been confirmed that government support will be introduced for public transport season tickets. Prices for our standard season tickets 30 days will be halved from 1 July. The discount applies to both adults and youth/students and covers travel from 1 July through to the end of the year. We will confirm the final date for purchasing discounted tickets at a later time.
These tickets will be discounted for a limited period
The price of all standard season tickets 30 days will be halved, for both adults and youth.
- Season ticket 30 days : zones A, B, C, AB, BC and ABC.
- Zone ABC Leisure card 30 days.
- Extra season ticket 30 days (inter-regional travel).
- Mini season ticket 30 days.

If you have already purchased a 90‑ or 365‑day pass, you can get help with a refund
It is possible to get a partial refund on our 90‑ and 365‑day season tickets. Read more on our refund page. If you have a discounted ticket through your employer, please contact them directly.
Refund of 90- and 365-day tickets
Always 4 for 1 with a season ticket
With a season ticket, adult travellers can bring up to three young people under the age of 20 free of charge when the pass is purchased in Västtrafik To Go.
You can also lend your ticket to someone else if you wish. These benefits apply even during the period when ticket prices are discounted.

No, the price you pay is determined by the purchase date.
It still applies. If you are registered as a resident in Gothenburg, you receive an additional discount when you purchase your season ticket in Västtrafik To Go. With the subsidy, a season ticket for Zone A 30 days costs SEK 305 instead of SEK 445.
The following tickets are not included in the price discount:
- Single tickets
- Day tickets
- Summer tickets
- Senior tickets
- Season tickets 90 days
- Season tickets 365 days
This proposal comes from the government. It is the Swedish Parliament that has approved the amended budget, which includes the public transport proposal.
It’s a bit too early to say. If the price discount leads to a significant increase in travel, it may affect demand for services, but at this point we don’t yet know what the impact will be.
It is funded through government support of SEK 6.5 billion, which is distributed to the regions.
No. The government initiative applies to season ticket 30 days, with the aim of easing the financial burden for travellers who purchase their own tickets. Senior tickets will remain unchanged for now. They are a municipally funded benefit, and travellers do not pay for them.
