Västtrafik's tickets at other train operators

Travel to Jönköping County

On the route Göteborg–Borås–Limmared–Värnamo, Västtrafik’s zones extend as far as Limmared station. For travel from Limmared onwards to Värnamo, Jönköpings Länstrafik’s (JLT) zones apply. The ticket must specify which station beyond Limmared the journey is valid to.

Valid tickets:

• Single ticket in the Västtrafik To Go app (valid for travel between Gothenburg–Limmared)
• Single ticket as paper ticket (valid for travel between Gothenburg–Limmared)
• 30-day, 90-day and 365-day season tickets in the Västtrafik To Go app and on a Västtrafik card
• 1-day and 3-day tickets in the Västtrafik To Go app (valid for travel between Gothenburg–Limmared)
• Zone ABC Leisure ticket
• Summer Ticket ABC
• School ticket for the relevant zone
• Travel Assistance ABC
• Trial ticket

Invalid tickets:

• Senior ticket
• Single tickets on thin paper cards
• Pay-as-you-go card
• Västtrafik’s “Travel 4, pay for 1” companion offer does not apply

Station zone affiliation:

• Gothenburg – Zone A
• Borås and Limmared – Zone C
• Hestra, Gnosjö and Värnamo – Outside Västtrafik’s geographical area

Västtrafik’s zone structure consists of three connected zones: A, B and C. It is not possible to buy a ticket that is only valid for Zone A and Zone C without also paying for Zone B.

Additional information:

• All Västtrafik tickets must be activated before the train’s departure time and be valid for the zones you travel through. If your ticket is valid when boarding, it remains valid for the entire journey even if the validity period expires during the trip.
• Tickets cannot be purchased onboard.
• Tickets on a Västtrafik card must be presented together with valid proof of eligibility.
• Västtrafik tickets are valid in SJ 2nd class subject to seat availability. Seat reservations are not possible.
• On SJ Regional trains, passengers travelling with a valid Västtrafik ticket (excluding school tickets) may bring up to two children under the age of 7 free of charge.
• Västtrafik tickets (excluding school tickets) may be combined with each other for travel between Gothenburg–Limmared.
• Västtrafik tickets are valid up to the last specified station where the train stops within the ticket’s area of validity.

Travel to Örebro County

On the Gothenburg–Skövde–Töreboda–Örebro route, Västtrafik’s zones extend as far as Töreboda station. For travel from Töreboda onwards into Örebro County, the zones of Länstrafiken Örebro (LT) apply. The ticket must specify which station beyond Töreboda the journey is valid to.

Valid tickets:

• 30-, 90- and 365-day period tickets, in the Västtrafik To Go app and on Västtrafikkort
• School ticket for the applicable zones

The following tickets are valid only for the Gothenburg–Töreboda section:

• Single ticket in the Västtrafik To Go app
• Single paper ticket
• 1- and 3-day tickets in the Västtrafik To Go app
• Zone ABC Fritid, in the Västtrafik To Go app and on Västtrafikkort
• Summer ticket ABC
• Reshjälp ABC
• Trial travel ticket

Invalid tickets:

• Senior ticket
• Account-based ticket (Kontoladdning)
• Single ticket on a thin paper card
• Västtrafik’s companion offer “Res 4 betala för 1” is not valid

Zone for each station:

• Alingsås – Zone B
• Vårgårda, Herrljunga, Falköping, Skövde and Töreboda – Zone C
• Laxå, Hallsberg, Kumla, Örebro S and Örebro C – Outside Västtrafik’s geographical area

On the Gothenburg–Trollhättan–Åmål–Säffle route, Västtrafik’s zones extend as far as Åmål station. For travel from Åmål onwards into Värmland, Värmlandstrafik’s zones apply. The ticket must specify which station beyond Åmål the journey is valid to.

Valid tickets:

• Single ticket in the Västtrafik To Go app
• Single paper ticket
• 30-, 90- and 365-day period tickets, in the Västtrafik To Go app and on Västtrafikkort
• Account-based ticket (Kontoladdning) is valid for travel between Gothenburg and Säffle

The following tickets are valid only for the Gothenburg–Åmål section:

• 1- and 3-day tickets in the Västtrafik To Go app
• Mini ToV is valid between Trollhättan and Öxnered
• Zone ABC Fritid
• Summer ticket ABC
• School ticket for the applicable zone
• Reshjälp ABC
• Trial travel ticket
• Västtrafik’s companion offer “Res 4 betala för 1” is valid between Gothenburg and Åmål and cannot be combined with free travel for accompanying children under the age of 7.

• Invalid tickets: pay-as-you-go and single tickets on thin paper cards. School tickets are not valid for Halden.

Västtrafik's single tickets are valid within zones A, B and C, not for onward travel within the arrival zone. Västtrafik cards must be verified together with proof of validity.

Västtrafik's tickets to Varberg are valid for onward travel in Varberg.
